Located in its own grounds near Richmond Park, Sheengate House is a large Grade II listed property built in a Vernacular Revival style. The building underwent a significant refurbishment and extension that opened up the ground-floor reception spaces and created additional bedrooms within the existing roof volume.
The existing outbuildings were also extended and enhanced, forming a new stable block that defines a rear courtyard. The new structures feature a thoughtful use of materials that combine waney-edge weatherboarding with sections of modern, minimally framed, full-height glass, creating a beautiful counterpoint to the original building. The project was completed in 2013.
