Slack

Slack is a group-messaging app. Our lab doesn't really use Slack as a group, but it is used for instant messaging between some members (mostly grad students). If you're an undergraduate RA, however, you must join the RA Slack.

Emails are our primary mode of communication and announcements, with some members (especially Michael) preferring Google Chat for instant messaging.

There is a Carney Innovation Space Slack used to communicate and broadcast interesting talks or events going on in the Carney Space (164 Angell Street). If you would like to be added to this Slack/listserv, click here to join the Slack!

Lab Mailing Lists

We have 4 mailing lists that are used to communicate important lab business. Let the lab manager know if you have not been added to an appropriate listserv.

1. franklab@googlegroups.com
   • Use for lab business that affects everyone, e.g. lab meeting announcements, talks/events of interest
   • Emails can be sent by core members, RAs, and friends of the lab
   • Emails are received by core members, RAs, and friends of the lab
2. franklabras@googlegroups.com
   • Use for lab business that primarily affects RAs, e.g. requests for help, RA journal clubs
   • Emails can be sent and received by the lab manager and RAs

3. franklabski@googlegroups.com

• Use for lab business and help requests relevant to MTurk running on our web server (formerly Ski, now lncc.brown.edu)
• Emails can be sent and received by lab members affiliated with MTurk/linux/JavaScript

4. franklabmeetings@googlegroups.com

• Use for lab business that affects friends of the lab, e.g. lab meeting announcements
• Emails can be sent by the lab manager
• Emails can be received by friends of the lab and those who are interested in attending our lab's meetings

   • For general Carney events
   • To gain access to this listserv, send an email to carney-institute@brown.edu
   • Alternatively, you can log into your account on https://listserv.brown.edu/, search for CARNEY-GEN and click the Subscribe button.
2. Carney Training Opportunities list
   • This mailing list is for trainee opportunities (e.g. workshops, job advertisements, conferences, etc.)
   • To gain access to this listserv, send an email to Carney-TraineeOpp@listserv.brown.edu
3. Neuroscience Graduate Program Seminars (NSGPSEMI@listserv.brown.edu)
   • Log into your account on https://listserv.brown.edu/, search for NSGPSEMI and click the Subscribe button.
4. Climbing Listserv (climb-club@googlegroups.com)
   • For coordinating indoor climbing activities with the lab and friends of the lab
   • To gain access to this listserv, contact the lab manager.

Google Calendars

If you do not have access to a relevant calendar, please ask the lab manager to add you!

There are several calendars that you should be aware of:

   • Can view people's vacation dates/when they are out of the office
3. In-lab testing room calendars (Metcalf 315A: Behavioral Testing and Metcalf 315B: EEG Testing)
   • Book testing rooms for your studies
   • See when others book the rooms so as to not double-book
4. Badre-FeldmanHall-Frank-Shenhav lab meeting calendar
   • Other labs' lab meetings--which you are welcome to attend!
5. CLPS event calendar
   • Department-wide events such as upcoming speakers, talks, and department events
   • Instructions on how to add this calendar are available at the bottom of this page

   • Carney workshops and talks
