“I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression.” -Network (1976).
We know that there is a lot of pain and suffering in the world; families are losing loved ones left and right in worthless wars being fought over for political gain and possibly even world domination. It seems that, in a dying world, the people with a say only care about power. Thankfully, not everybody is as gluttonous as others. There are people in our world who want to do good and want to see people prosper for the better. We're stuck in this world together, so why not help each other rather than fight all the time? Luckily, there are multiple ways we can help those suffering from the side effects of the war going on.
According to an article talking about US and Israel ties, the US has funded Israel $3.8 billion annually. Contributing to 16% of Israel's military budget. This bond they share has, in turn, helped America profit from Israel; gaining a supply of oil on which we depend on. Meanwhile; the US is aiding Ukraine by also funding them with $46.6 billion for military needs and $76.8 billion in total for military, financial, and humanitarian needs. Sadly, these wars raise the risk of full-on nuclear war, but if we can think with a clear mind and come to an agreement that makes both parties happy, both wars can be resolved, making the world a little better.
It’s good and all that America is helping these countries, but how can the common person help people being affected by war? The easiest way we can help others would be to donate to help the victims of these wars, be able to help rebuild homes, give families humanitarian aid, and give people medical support. A more military aspect of help would be for the US to send troops over to help in the fight and to try to resolve peace with the countries, as well as trying to get hostages from America, Israel, and Ukraine, out of enemy hands. We know that America isn’t perfect all the time, however; and the government's means should be put into question. A recent article talks about anti-war protesting in the US, and how the people don’t want to fund “genocide”. The American people see Israel's actions as intense, believing that Gaza in the future shouldn't be run by Hamas, but shouldn’t be run by Israel either. Seeing that both parties could take unpredictable actions later in the future if not dealt with. Ukraine however, is supported by the US, Lloyd Austin.
The United States Secretary of Defense said,” I can guarantee that without our support, Putin will be successful.” This statement shines a light on the fact that America is trying to help those in need, but it also tells us that if someone needs help, even if we don’t know anything about them, there are good people who want to help.
Considering the circumstances, YES, the common person can help people suffering from war. Most of the help comes from the American government, funding both Israel and Ukraine for military and other needs. Personally, I’m glad that there are ways we can help our allies and anyone else that needs it. There are always other options than donating to help a cause, and I hope you will take a stand for what you believe is right.
