Recently, there has been a new addition to the food culture of Bowling Green. Parlor Doughnuts opened earlier this year on 133 Three Springs Road, which previously housed Bojangles. The doughnuts at Parlor are not your typical doughnuts—they are layered and craft doughnuts. Since the doughnuts at Parlor are so unique, it makes this shop little competition to other doughnut stores like Great American Donuts (GADS), Krispy Kreme, and Dunkin.
The establishment of Parlor Doughnuts is extremely charming. The first thing we noticed when entering the building was the tiled flooring. Throughout the whole store there was vintage, blue, patterned tile. There are also light blue accents on the walls and artwork to add to the aesthetic. There are accents of wood, greenery, and a lot of white to complete the “clean girl” vibe. The building has a drive-through, which makes it easy to grab some doughnuts and go. Additionally, for those wanting to sit and chat, there is a seating area.
However, the seating only consisted of tables that could seat four people at most, so it wasn’t very accommodating to large groups and big families. The facility is extremely clean and well maintained. The restrooms are upright and had decor to make them more comfortable and pleasing to the eye. One of our favorite parts of the experience at Parlor was the music that was being played throughout the shop. The music was indie-folk, which completed the vibe and made the atmosphere flawless. Parlor Doughnuts space was extremely calm and aesthetically pleasing, and that isn’t even concerning the awesome doughnuts!
The menu at Parlor Doughnuts had a variety of many delicious breakfast foods. They have an array of unique bakery items, including original layered doughnuts, vegan and keto-friendly doughnuts, and specialty coffee. This also includes doughnuts for dogs, so your furry besties can also enjoy the doughnuts!
Hope got a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and paired it with a “campfire” doughnut. Together it came out to be $10.78.
Hope says, “The sandwich was tasty, but it was crumbling while I was eating it. The doughnut was incredible! I loved the chocolate paired with the marshmallows.”
The doughnut had various toppings. There was chocolate drizzle, crumbled graham crackers, and topped with marshmallows. To give it that campfire aesthetic. In Hope’s opinion, she thought it was a filling meal overall.
Gray ordered a spinach pesto breakfast sandwich and paired it with a “sandy beach” doughnut. Together it came out to be $11.98. Gray says, “The sandwich was flavorful! The doughnut was very appetizing, and the cinnamon dust was a great addition.”
The sandy beach doughnut was advertised to taste like a cinnamon roll. Indeed it did. While the doughnut did taste like a cinnamon roll, it was a bit messy. But overall, the whole meal was delicious.
Altogether, we rate the whole experience a 9/10. The culture team experienced great service, ate some yummy food, and will definitely be visiting there again.
