By now, everyone at Bowling Green High School is familiar with the student-led accounts. The Instagram and Twitter feeds of every BG student and worker have been flooded with these accounts, with new ones popping up every day. But currently, the most well-known ones are untouchable. The Purple Onion, BG Almost Friday, and the BG Badboyz are unmatched. Students and faculty always are excited to see new posts, regardless of whether they are good or bad for the school’s reputation.
The Purple Onion was a very unexpected, yet popular page that arose earlier this year. On they made their first two posts. One introduced themselves and the other shared a wild story. They quickly gained popularity by posting outrageous, exaggerated stories and mentioning students in their posts. This bit of fame, however, was short-lived. After about a week and a half of posting each day, the account stopped with no warning. There has been no more activity, leaving everyone wondering what happened to the infamous Purple Onion.
Another account that has emerged this school year is BG Almost Friday. This account posts twice a week every week without fail. Every Thursday, multiple pictures get posted with the caption “Almost Friday.” Then the following day, a single photo is posted and captioned, “Officially Friday.” Every post features Bowling Green students, which is what makes each week's posts so highly anticipated. Since the account is so consistent and in touch with students, it makes it easy for everyone to enjoy and look forward to.
Last but not least is BG Badboyz, this account without a doubt is the most renowned BG account. This student-run account keeps up with every sport and major activity and the carefully selected owners of the account make posts to keep students entertained and up to date. They do many things like coming up with themes, making announcements about activities, and making enjoyable posts whenever we win significant games/ events. Even the teachers follow this account to stay up to date on what is happening in the school and what the students are paying close attention to. As this account is on Twitter and Instagram, it makes is very easily accessible and convenient for anyone to look at and indulge in.
All in all, many BG accounts are made throughout the school year. But some are just untouchable like these three that I have mentioned. It takes a lot of work to keep so many people interested in an account and these users keep everyone hooked and entertained.
