Students will demonstrate their understanding of value by using pen techniques such as hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and shading to create a drawing that explores the range of light to dark tones. The project will emphasize the development of depth, contrast, and texture within the artwork, encouraging students to apply these techniques to convey form and dimension effectively.
Surface: Drawing, Pastel or Charcoal Paper
Materials: Pencils (for sketching), Pens, Sharpies
What marks do you notice, and what effect do they create?
Draw 20 squares or circles and create 20 different marks.
