Contrast refers to the arrangement of opposite or different elements and effects. For example, color and grey, light and dark, smooth and rough textures, large and small shapes, round edges and point edges, red and green, up and down. Contrast can be used to create visual interest and drama in an artwork. Contrast can also be created by combining different and unusual things together. For example, contrasting colors (red/green, blue/orange, yellow/purple) or a giraffe with wings.
