Excellent Example: I created a butterfly sculpture using unorthodox materials like old cd's and records. I created it because every time that I see a butterfly, I think of my grandmother. It was her favorite animal. I used the records for the wings and I decided to break the cd's to create a geometric texture. I glued the cd's to the record using hot glue. I learned that it is important to wear eye glasses when cutting plastic objects. I chose to develop my craftsmanship because I wanted to make everything look neat and clean. I learned how to work with pliers and that using gloves helps with not burning yourself. I really feel like my sculpture skills have grown by making this project. I also chose to improve my observation skills by making the butterfly look more realistic. I was able to do this by using several reference images to help me. I am so happy with how it turned out because the reflective light really makes the butterfly stand out. I definitely accomplished my goals by making something that I could hang in my window.
