Week 1 Polished Piece
Grandpa
One hot day, I had just been picked up from school. I was in my dad's car with my brother, after driving for 3 minutes my dad told us the news. Our Grandpa died of pneumonia. My mom had been there when he died. “Don’t worry about it, my dad said.”
When it was time to go, we all gathered at the funeral and sat down. Then a bunch of stories were told. After we walked outside to bury him. And we all threw flowers in.
Finally everyone was sobbing, there were a few more speeches and then we all left. After we left we went to our Grandma's house, had food and then we all went to our house, and my mom gave me and my brother stuffed animals “thank you.” We both said, and we went to bed.

Stranger danger
One day on my 11th birthday I got a superpower! It was invisibility.
I started off by pranking my family with it like scaring them. “Boo!”
I yelled. But eventually I started having a normal everyday life.
Me and my brother Riley, were on a walk in our neighborhood when suddenly out of nowhere came a kidnapper! We ran as fast as we could. “What if he takes us,” I whispered. “I don’t know,” said Riley. I then turned invisible and beat up the kidnapper. Then we went to the police to report him.
When we got home we told our parents and they sorted everything out. My brother and I, washed up and then went to bed. “Good night,” I said. “Good night,” he replied.
