Week 1 Polished Piece

Bob’s Trip

     Munch!Munch! “These animal-shaped crackers are good!” Bob the elephant said on his flight from Animal Town to Florida. “The plane will be landing soon. Please fasten your seatbelts and close your tray-tables.” the pilot said. When Bob arrived in Florida, the first thing he did was go straight to Universal Studios. “What should I do first?” Bob questioned himself as he went to explore.

     First, he headed toward a Transformer ride. It was a mix of a show and a ride. There was a screen and he rode in a cart that moved around to show other things that were happening in the show. “That was cool! I wonder how they made it?” Next, Bob said to himself as he walked to the waterpark. Splash! Bob cannonballed into the pool. He swam a bit before heading to the waterslides. “Whee!” Bob said as he slid down the slide. Splash! The water bucket turned over and Bob got soaked. “That was so much fun!” Bob said as he dried off and headed toward the main reason he came here. 

     Bob was a huge fan of Harry Potter. Bob was a Griffindor too. Then, Bob went over to Ollivander’s. The animal at the counter chose Bob to come over. Bob was so excited. He walked up to the counter. The giraffe on the counter picked a wand from behind him, and gave it to Bob. “Give it a wave,” said the giraffe. Bob waved it. The lights started flickering. “Not this one.” the giraffe said as he took the wand from Bob, and said a spell to stop the lights from flickering. He gave Bob another wand and told him to wave this one. You could hear fake thunder and see fake lightning. “Not this one either.” the giraffe said as he took the wand and made the thunder and lightning stop. “Try this one,” he said. Right when Bob held the wand, there was more light shining on him, and it felt like there was an invisible fan in front of him. “This is the one.” the giraffe said. Finally, Bob bought the wand and went to the only ride he had time for. This ride was like the Transformer ride. It had a screen and you were in a cart. You were in a Quidditch match, and you followed Harry and Ron through the game, and in the end you won.

     “I can smell the animal-crackers from here.” Bob said. “Would you like crackers?” asked the axolotl that had the cart. “Oh, yes please,” Bob said. “Would you like any drinks?” asked the axolotl. “Yes! Thank you!” Bob exclaimed. After the axolotl left, Bob said, “Ahh! These crackers are still good.” When Bob reached Animal Town, he was already planning on where he was going to go next. 

Week 1 Golden Lines

Day 1

The reason I would have this argument is because my parents never let me go on the computer to play video games.

Day 2

His older sister is mostly plain annoying.

Day 3

Also, while he was in the air, he let out tiny sparks and went back to the ground.

Day 4

For example, a dinosaur could have laid an egg, that became a chicken, and the chicken laid more eggs, that became more chickens, and on and on and on.

Day 5

On the other hand, some people might say, “things get tested.” However, at any time, any technology can malfunction.

Week 2 Golden Lines

Day 6

He is super cute, and has blue wings. He also wears a tiny blue hat with yellow stars.

Day 7

Seriously! My brother did this!? I was so mad at my brother. I was going to get revenge on him. 

Day 8

“Avada Kedavra!” Voldemort screamed when Harry screamed, “Expelliarmus!”

Day 9

I would dedicate my life to space exploration.

Day 10

I’m the middle child, so it’s hard with my younger brother bothering me, and my older sister being plain annoying.

Week 2 Polished Piece

My Superpower 

     “Wow!” I exclaimed. My brother had a toy and he said it has any superpower that you can think of. “I wish I could have that superpower,” I said. Little did I know, that a boy in that house would get that superpower. 

     The next day, while I was walking to school, I saw that an old lady was about to get run over by a bus, and the driver wasn’t even paying attention! I started running over there. I know I won’t make it in time. Why am I even doing this? I questioned myself. Suddenly, I felt like I was going faster. I felt like I had super speed. I got over there quickly. The lady looked terrified. I quickly grabbed her and brought her to the sidewalk. She slowly looked up. “Thank you, young boy,” she said. “Oh, it’s nothing,” I replied. Just then, the bus driver came out. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention,” he said guiltily. “It’s okay,” the lady told the driver, then she said, “Oh you go to school,” to me. 

     The whole day I wondered, did I actually have superpowers, or was it just me being fast. As I was walking back home, I noticed a bad guy shooting the police. They stole some precious diamonds. I had to teleport to help. Suddenly, I teleported right on top of the bad guy's car. I tried punching the roof of the car and it broke. “Hey! Someone broke the roof of the car!” the driver told the other bad guy. For some random reason, they couldn’t see me. Had I turned invisible? I asked myself. Then, it started raining bullets! The police was shooting through the hole in the car. But, the bullets weren’t affecting me. Was I immortal? I pondered. Just then, I started moving the gun with my mind. I had telekinesis! I pressed the brake pedal with my mind. The cops soon reached the car as I got out. When I reached the sidewalk, I turned visible, and started walking home.

     No one knew who did all that stuff. The next day at school, I heard a lot of rumors, but I still didn’t tell anyone. From that day onward, I realized I was a superhero, and my power was, the power to have any power you think of. Still, no one knew who did this stuff that I was doing, because I just looked like a normal kid.

Quick Write

     Ding!Dong! I opened the door and saw a giant box, with my name on it. When I picked it up to bring it inside, it felt heavy. Boom! I accidentally dropped the box on the floor. I opened the box and all there was, was a letter. It smelled like a prank. I cautiously opened the letter. Splat! I got caked! Mmm, I thought. It actually tasted good. I read what was written in the letter. All it said was “Duck”. Oof! I got hit in the face with a snowball. Wait. It wasn’t snowing, or there wasn’t snow outside. A tiny piece of paper came out of the snowball. “From: your brother.” Seriously! My brother did this. I was mad at my brother. I was going to get revenge on him.
