Week 1 Newsletter
This has been an incredible week for campers! We've built relationships and community, and learned important key writing skills in such a short time. This week, campers have learned the foundations of narrative writing, including narrative structure, dialogue, hooks, and sensory details. They also created collaborative sentences and paragraphs! Campers also published a narrative story on a topic of their choice, shared their writing each day during Author's Chair, and played games like Four Corners, basketball, Heads Up Seven Up, and *Extreme Hopscotch*. We can't wait for Week 2!

Author's Chair
At the end of each day, campers read their writing out loud to each other! It has been great to see kids show bravery and curiosity while reading out loud and listening to each other.

What's happening next week?
We will focus on academic writing! Campers will brainstorm, draft, revise, edit and publish an opinion/argumentative essay. They will also learn about and create their own infographics and posters. Lastly, on Friday we will have another celebration to share our writing together :)
