Tell a famous story that all the children know very well (Three Little Pigs, Jack and Beanstalk etc).
Change the traditional story and allow students to react to this change. For example, if telling the three little pigs, put the chair before the porridge and put mummy bear before daddy bear.
Talk about what is happening with these changes and ask the children as a class to put the story right.
Explain that what they have just done is debugged the story. The story had bugs and they have corrected those bugs by debugging.
Split the students into groups of five or six. Give each student a different story and ask them to make a small change to the story and then act it out with that change. The rest of the class then need to find the bug and then debug the story.
If you want to record the progress of the students, then follow the instructions below.
For this activity you will need to register your class with CodeSpark The Foos.
You will then need to log each iPad into the school account of The Foos app.
Students can then use the app by choosing their name and going through each of the activities.
The recommended Activity to start with is Donut Detective. Students have to code Mrs Foo to eat the Donut.
Students can record their learning through the SeeSaw app by taking screenshots and then talking through their screen shots explaining what they are doing.
With up to date iPads, the students could screen record a level, upload the video to SeeSaw and then use the record feature to record what they have done.
