Key Stage 1 Computing Curriculum

Use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content

  • Recognise that pressing keys on a keyboard creates letters on a screen
  • Identify & use the delete key/s
  • Identify & use the return/enter key to start a new line
  • Understand the relative positions of keys on a keyboard
  • Identify & use number keys (number pad on full size keyboards)
  • Identify & use the space bar to type a sentence

Image Skills

  • Press & hold on a touchscreen device to activate a contextual menu
  • Control a cursor on a computer with a mouse/trackpad
  • Understand & use computer terms, eg: menu, icon, scroll bar, cursor etc
  • Log in with username & password
  • Understand what a digital footprint is and that it can last forever
  • Understand that content I create and share over the internet can be abused by others
