Our advising system - Meet the Team (click to learn more)
Your academic advising team works together to keep you informed, on track for graduation, and supported throughout your program. Here is some information about the roles within the team.
Academic Advisors:
Jack Quenelle - Academic Success Advisor
Elaine Hock - Academic Success Advisor
As the core members of your advising team, we will interact with you most frequently. We are experts on your program requirements and are available to assist with program-related questions. We are also familiar with ASU and MLFC resources and will refer you, as appropriate, to ensure you are fully supported.
Other members of the advising system:
Cadie Ely - Academic Success Coordinator, Sr.
Cadie coordinates advising-related functions, working mainly behind the scenes, though you will likely hear from her at some point during your program.
Cindy Tang - MLFC Enrollment Coach
Cindy assists newly enrolled or admitted students with preparing for their graduate program. You may hear from Cindy regarding course enrollment or start term details, but she also hosts sessions for new students and is available to meet to address questions you may have as you begin your academic journey.
Megan Gamarra - Coordinated Care Strategist
Megan works with students who need coordinated care. If you are experiencing difficulties and need support, know that you can submit an "SOS" form and receive assistance from the coordinated care team.
Students are encouraged to read and understand the Student Handbook (2026/27), as well as familiarize themselves with the ASU Graduate College Policy Manual.

ASU students and faculty are expected to act with integrity in their educational pursuits - discover what academic integrity is and why it is important. See the Policy and Code of Conduct Page for more details on academic integrity and other university policies.
Important: This program does not lead to teacher or principalship certification. For information on education programs that lead to teacher certification, visit the MLFC Graduate Program Webpage and look for a master's program with teacher certification listed.
To determine the recommended course sequence to follow for your program use the drop down arrows below that correspond to the term you were admitted for. It is important to follow the assigned course sequence and discuss any variation from the sequence with an academic advisor.
If circumstances find you needing to veer from the recommended course sequence, we invite you to schedule an advising appointment to devise an altered course sequence together. Any changes to your course sequence will also need to be reflected on the Plan of Study (iPOS) and approved by advising.
The complete list of required coursework for the program, in no particular order, can be found on the ASU Degree Search website.
Please refer to the Principal Preparation Program EDA 584/684 Internship Handbook for deeper insights into the Internships!
The ASU Academic Calendar displays start and end dates for sessions A, B, and C. Dynamically dated course dates can be found in Class Search under the specific course. Session A and B do not overlap and run for about 7.5 weeks in Spring/Fall semesters, while Session C runs the full length of a semester which is roughly 16 weeks.
Not all courses are offered in every session, and what session courses are offered are subject to change each term.

Every graduate student at ASU must complete an "iPOS", or Interactive Plan of Study. The iPOS functions as a contract between the student, the Mary Lou Fulton College, and the ASU Graduate College. It outlines the program requirements, including courses necessary to complete the student's program. Furthermore, its submission and approval is required for graduation. Advising will pre-fill the iPOS for each student and submit on the student's behalf.
Use your course sequence to determine when you are taking each class and in what section it should be listed on your iPOS.
NOTE: Completing your iPOS indicates the courses you PLAN to take and when. Completing your iPOS is NOT the same thing as registering for classes. You still must register yourself in all your courses each semester via My ASU > My Classes box > Registration > Add.
The successfully completed Applied Project course (EDA 593) constitutes the culminating experience for the Master’s Degree. A grade of "B" or better is required in Applied Project in order to graduate. A registration override is needed to enroll in EDA 593. If you have questions about the Applied Project or need the override to enroll in this course, please contact GradEdPrep@asu.edu.
The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has more requirements for certification beyond completing the ASU Principal Certification program.
The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) outlines certification requirements. However, we have condensed this information and tailored it to account for our teacher/administrator certification programs. We recommend that you prepare the above prior to or during the final semester of your program so there is no delay in receiving your teacher/administrator certificate.
Tests Required for Certification
The following National Evaluation Series (NES) tests are needed for Principal certification:
AEPA/NES® Principal Subtest I and II, which are available on the AZ Educator Proficiency Assessments (AEPA) Website.
We recommend that you pass these exams just prior to or during the final semester of your program so there is no delay in receiving your certification.
