This is a one-period, general education Algebra class with a general education teacher AND a special education teacher
Students who are successful in this class have a solid pre-algebra understanding of the following skills: Expressions, One-Step Equations, Graphing on a Coordinate Plane, and working with Positive and Negative Integers
Students in this class should be able to keep up with the grade-level pace of the curriculum

Pre-Algebra (Grades 6–8 Standards)
This course is designed for students who demonstrate solid foundational math skills but are not yet ready for the pace or collaborative demands of a co-taught Algebra class. Students should enter with proficiency in place value, operations with whole numbers, fraction and decimal understanding, and basic proportional reasoning.
Pre-Algebra focuses on strengthening number sense while introducing core Algebraic concepts such as expressions, equations, and integer operations. The course uses the Maneuvering the Middle curriculum to build conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.
This course is not intended for students who require elementary-level math intervention or intensive remediation in foundational numeracy skills.

Students may serve as an office assistant in the main office, counseling center, career center, attendance office, library, etc. Tasks include filing, telephone answering, message delivery, and other general office tasks under the supervision of a staff member
Students may assist a teacher with clerical duties, lab setup, equipment setup, physical education demonstrations, and similar duties.
Students are to contact teachers directly for permission to serve as a teacher assistant

2nd-5th grade level
Basic applications and going into a deeper understanding of these concepts within real world scenarios (fractions, GCF, LCM, pos/neg integers, etc.)
Students will also work on concepts around money, time, calendars, and basic applications. Curriculum: Practical Mathematics (Real World applications).
Grade: 9 - 11
Co-Taught English (available grades 9-11) is a general education setting that serves both general education students and provides SDI for special education students
The general and special education teacher collaborate to modify and accommodate all students in the classroom
There is not a specific grade level requirement to be successful, more important is willingness to accept help, work ethic, and study skills
Students in Co-taught English follow the appropriate grade level English curriculum
Grade: 9 - 12
Co-Taught English (available grades 9-11) is a general education setting that serves both general education students and provides SDI for special education students
For students significantly below reading and writing skills even with 1:1 support.
Students with a Literacy Skills placement will typically stay in that track all four years of high school
Typical Literacy Skills students are learning basic story sequencing, general summarization skills, and building writing stamina towards writing a paragraph
Students with deficits in reading/writing but have a strong work ethic and/or a desire to improve are typically a better fit for Co-taught English
Grade: 9 - 12
For those students who qualify in the area of Learning Strategies or Organization
These students require additional support in reading, writing, math, and/or organization to support them in content areas.
On a individual basis, students can be recommended for Learning Strategies without qualifying based on a team decision.
ALL students would benefit from this class, unfortunately, we have to be selective with the numbers of team recommendations.
Counts as an elective credit.
