Personalized Pathway Requirement (PPR)

Electives (potentially any course at AHS) should be chosen using your Personalized Pathway

Personalized Pathway Requirements are related courses that lead to a specific post-high school career or educational outcome chosen by the student, parent/guardian, and counselor based on the student’s interests and High School and Beyond Plan, that may include Career and Technical Education, and are intended to provide a focus for the student’s learning after high school.

In general, the 7.0 elective credits should be courses that support the student's ultimate career goal defined in the High School & Beyond Plan. 3.0 of the elective credits have traditionally been a second art credit and two global language credits. However, this aspect has changed to a Personalized Pathway Requirement (PPR).

For example:

  1. Gavin wants to own and operate an art gallery. If that is the case, in addition to his core 17 credits, he would want to continue to take 3.0 more credits of art and 4.0 credits business marketing courses we have available. Setting him up for further on-the-job training.

  2. Maria wants to pursue a degree in biomedical technology. She will need to take, in addition to her core 17 credits, 1.0 credit of art, 2.0 credits of global languages, 2.0 of the most advanced science courses, and 2.0 math course we have to be ready for university and her future career.

  3. Antonio has enjoyed welding and wants to become a Certified Welder. In addition to his core 17 credits, he would want to take 2.0 credits of engineering courses, 2.0 credits of construction courses, and 3.0 credits from Sno-Isle Skills Center. These choices would allow him to start an apprenticeship or enter a certified welding program after high school to become a welder.
