Teaching Enhanced Provision Learners
Teaching Enhanced Provision Learners
We encourage all learners to make informed choices about food for a healthy and balanced diet.
Our staff aim to deliver engaging and interactive lessons for learners developing a knowledge of food, practical cookery skills and every day life skills.
During S1-S3, Enhanced Provision (EP) learners have the opportunity to join Broad General Education Home Economics classes with the appropriate supports in place. During S4-6 our EP learners are offered opportunities to complete National and Higher courses.
EP teachers currently offer National Qualifications in level 1,2 and 3 within the Home Economics setting. These are delivered in small groups with the appropriate accommodations required to encourage progression in this subject as well as providing valuable practise in basic life skills. EP learners enjoy making a variety of dishes, developing their cookery skills and techniques through using different pieces of equipment and cookery processes.
Our lessons aim to:
Develop Organisational Skills for Cooking
During our senior EP lessons in the Home Economics classroom, learners have the opportunity to use visual resources to support them to confidently follow instructions and to develop and maintain literacy and numeracy skills.
