Returning Specialization Year Students

Welcome Back to Practicum Education 2026-27

Specialization Year Students!  

We are excited to be part of your final year of practicum placement at APU! To prepare for a successful and safe experience, all Specialization Year students must complete ALL the items in the Returning Specialization Year Practicum Education Student Checklist below PRIOR to starting internship in the Fall even though some content may have been repeated from your Generalist Foundation Year. 

Completion of your SY Pre- Practicum Canvas course by the due date below will earn practicum hour credit (TOTAL 3.5 hours). 

Hours completed by the deadline below may be recorded in your Fall Semester Time Log in InPlace with your Practicum Faculty Liaison's approval. If not approved by your Practicum Instructor, please record those hours in the Additional Time Log in InPlace for internal tracking. Late submissions will not earn practicum hours.

Returning Specialization Year Practicum Education Student Checklist

August 1: Purchase Professional Liability Insurance

All students in practicum are required to purchase their student professional liability insurance. Click HERE for more info.

August 10: Pre-Practicum Canvas Course Online Training Modules (3.5 Hours)

Links have been emailed directly to your APU email on July 20. Please contact one of the Practicum Faculty if you have not received the link or are having difficulty accessing the Canvas course.

August 25 (PPSC) OR August 27 (AZ & IE): Joint SY Practicum Re-Orientation 

(Advanced Standing students are excused from the joint re-orientation portion of that day.)

All Specialization Year students will have a joint re-orientation session 45 minutes of the first day of practicum seminar.

Azusa Campus

• PPSC Students: Tuesday, August 25 at 5:00-5:45pm for Joint SY Practicum Re-Orientation (Zoom link provided by your Seminar Professor)

5:45-6:30pm - Both SY and Advanced Standing students meet with your seminar professor AFTERWARDS separately

• All Other SY Students: Thursday, August 27 

4:20-5:00pm (Meet in your classroom first) - Both SY and Advanced Standing students meet with your seminar professor FIRST for 40 minutes in your classroom before the joint session. 

5:00-5:50pm (Wynn 12) - Meet all together for the Joint SY Practicum Re-Orientation. Advanced Standing students are excused.

Inland Empire Campus
