Welcome to Field Practicum Education 2023-24
Generalist Foundation Year and Advanced Standing Students!
We are excited to be part of your first year (and final year for Advanced Standing students) of field practicum placement at APU! To prepare for a successful and safe experience, all students new to APU MSW Field Practicum Education must complete ALL the items in the New Field Practicum Education Student Checklist below to start internships in the Fall semester.
Completion of the Canvas course, sexual assault prevention online training, and attendance of the field practicum orientation by the stated due dates below will earn field practicum hour credit (TOTAL 14.5 hours).
Hours completed by the deadline below may be recorded in your Fall Semester Time Log in IPT (Week 0) with your Field Practicum Faculty Liaison and Field Practicum Instructor's approval. Late submissions will not earn field practicum hours. If not approved by your Field Practicum Instructor, please record those hours in the Additional Time Log in IPT for internal tracking.
New Field Practicum Education Student Checklist
August 1: Purchase Professional Liability Insurance
All students in field practicum are required to purchase their student professional liability insurance. Click HERE for more info
August 15: Pre-Field Practicum Canvas Course Online Training Modules (9 Hours)
Links to the Canvas course were emailed to your APU email on July 10. Please contact one of the Field Practicum Faculty if you have not received the link or are having difficulty accessing the Canvas course. Please save your certificate of completion for your records (you may be asked to show proof of some of the training in the future)
August 15: Sexual Assault Prevention Online Training Modules (1 Hour)
Title IX and Clery Act training will be assigned to students by Azusa Pacific University via APU email on July 10. Please contact one of the Field Practicum Faculty if you have not received the email by July 15th or are having difficulty accessing the Canvas course.
All students new to field practicum (AZ and IE campus GFY and Advanced Standing students) are required to attend this in-person training on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 8:30am - 1:00pm.
August 19 at 8:30am-1:00pm: Attend the New Field Practicum Student Orientation (4.5 Hours)
