GSWEC

Program Eligibility:  

• Specialization Year and Advanced Standing students entering their final year of practicum (both full-time and part-time)

• Both clinical specialization or community specialization students are eligible to apply 

• Generalist Foundation Students: Some nonstipend opportunities

• Students at both Azusa and Inland Empire Campus are eligible to apply

• DCFS and PPSC students are NOT eligible to apply

Application Steps (GSWEC Application and Meeting with GSWEC Coordinator DUE: January 18):

(Exception for Newly admitted Advanced Standing students: GSWEC Application DUE by February 22; Meet with GSWEC Coordinator Jean Un at jun@apu.edu to discuss details after application submission)

1) December 1: Complete online MSW Specialization Year (SY) Practicum Application (Both the MSW SY practicum application and GSWEC application must be submitted)

(Link will be emailed to students by APU Practicum Education in November)

2) January TBD, 2027 at 5:30-6:30pm: Attend the Multi-University GSWEC Information Session on Zoom

• Will explain GSWEC in detail together with students from other MSW programs

• In the breakout room, will explain the application and practicum placement process for APU GSWEC students which is different from other SY practicum students.

3) By January 18: 

• Review the GSWEC 2026-27 Student Practicum Guide (current one coming in December!) for specific GSWEC agency information and specialization year placement)

• Complete the Online GSWEC Application if not completed through the Practicum Application

• Meet with GSWEC Coordinator, Jean Un to discuss up to top 3 agency choices (Calendar link will be provided in Practicum Application or email jun@apu.edu to set up appointment - cancel your appointment with other practicum faculty (including IE students))

4) February TBD, 2027 at 3-5:30pm (In-Person Location - Culver City (See Flyer): Attend the GSWEC Student Orientation Open House (Flyer with Details Coming soon!) 

GSWEC agencies will present their internship programs and be available to answer any specific questions students may have.

5) By February 13: Email GSWEC Coordinator, Jean Un at jun@apu.edu your top 3 agency choices (after attending the GSWEC Student Open House)

6) February TBD 2027: All SY students receive their GSWEC agency referrals for interviews 

7) February TBD - April TBD: Interview Period

8) May TBD 2027: GSWEC Consortium Match Meeting (Be available by phone between 9:00-11:00am for last minute questions, just in case)

9) End of May, 2027: Final match confirmations sent to students
