First graders ended their sound unit today by spending time engineering Squishy Circuits.  These use conductive dough to complete circuits and make sound!

Do you remember playing telephone with cups and string??  Well our first graders did that today.  They observed how sound can travel through different materials.

In their exploration of sound, first graders used the idea that acoustic engineers sometimes need to work on dampening sound.  They learned about sound volume and experimented with different ways of quieting sounds.

First graders are learning about sound.  They explored how sound is created by vibrations.  They lined up to and hit a milk carton to see how far the sound could travel.
