Course Description
We study the past to understand how specific events affect communities/nations or individuals. This course is designed around examining historical events here in Aotearoa and overseas that have left a lasting legacy. Students will learn how to engage with primary evidence and apply significance to important historical events. Historical events may include the invasion of Parihaka, Terrorist attacks of 9/11 and/or the Rise of Hitler.

Course Description
This course explores the historical debate around contested historical events and lasting significance. Looking at deeper concepts and wider trends such as colonisation and nationalism. This course provides students with strong communication, critical thinking, and critical analysis skills. Students will demonstrate these skills through research, essay writing and other formal writing.
