Course Description:
This course is for ākonga who are interested in Physical Education and enjoy being active. Ākonga will participate in a variety of physical activities, including individual and team sports, fitness and group challenges. They will have a chance to gain an understanding of the function of the body as it relates to physical activity; break down different socio-cultural factors and how they affect participation; demonstrate interpersonal skills; develop skill acquisition and investigate what affects participation.
This course offers the same standards as PEO100 so students will not be able to choose both subject options.

Course Description:
Ākonga will build on what is covered in PED100 and will learn about methods and principles of training, leadership, sports coaching/ running an event and skill development. The course involves implementing key biophysical and socio-cultural knowledge across a range of sporting situations.
The following units are included in the course: biophysical principles relating to skill development; examining the significance for self, others and society of a sporting event; demonstrating quality performance in Ki o Rahi and Flag; and demonstrating social responsibility in physical activity.

Course Description:
Ākonga will explore biophysical and socio-cultural concepts within the context of ‘in, through and about movement’. Units will focus on Sports in Society, Motor Skill Learning (Skill Acquisition) and Performance Improvement Programmes. The course gives ākonga a choice to complete Level 3 Achievement or Unit standards and will expand on the key concepts covered in PED200. Having the option of different standards will allow ākonga to choose the best program that suits their goals for the course.

Ākonga will develop an in-depth understanding of exercise and fitness training and the development of the physical body. Also covered in the course is sports leadership and coaching skills as well as key interpersonal skills. Ākonga will regularly partake in practical exercises and sporting challenges. They will have the opportunity to challenge themselves both physically and mentally during a range of topics and activities as part of the course.

Course Description:
This course aims to provide ākonga with an introduction to the knowledge, skills, attributes and attitudes associated with the Police and policing as a career, and potentially other defence force agencies, in Aotearoa New Zealand. The course provides an opportunity for ākonga to explore the physical and leadership requirements of a police officer. Completing this course will aid ākonga in a possible future police career pathway.
