Slingshot

The purpose of the slingshot project is to practice recording the steps of a project on a web-portfolio.

Journal Entry 1

The first step of making a slingshot is to get the wood. Captain cut long strips of wood, and we used saws to get 5 x 3 inches pieces of wood that we would use to make the slingshot. Then we used a ruler to plan where we cut the wood. This is what mine looks like.

Journal Entry 2

Once the slingshot is cut, the next step is to sand and paint it. I spent a while sanding it and making sure it was safe to hold. I decided to paint it a sunset gradient, and I think it turned out really nice.

Journal Entry 3

Once the rubber band is attached, the slingshot is functional! I really like how mine turned out and it can shoot pretty far.

Reflection

Describe the final results:

My slingshot tured out really nice. It has a nice looking sunset pattern on the side, and it shoots really well.

What do you know now that you didn't know when you started this project?

I know that the shape of the slingshot matters for how well it works.

What advice would you give to future students about this project?

I would advise future students to make a good shape for where the rubber band goes, otherwise you will not have enough room to shoot projectiles.

What else would you like to try that you didn't have time for?

I would like to have sanded it a bit more, but I didn't have enough time.

What proof do you have that shows you learned the project’s purpose?

My proof that I learned the project's purpose is that I made this page.
