8th Grade P.E.

Overview: Over the course of the year, students will be exposed to and taught the different facets of the Fitnessgram Testing model. Lessons and units will be tailored to specific assessments, so that students have the opportunity to prepare appropriately.

The Fitnessgram tests are: Mile Run, Sit-ups, Push-ups, Pull-ups, and the Pacer Test.

A focus will also be placed on lifelong fitness activities. Students will be led through different variations of circuit training and basic movements that will enable them to participate with limited to no equipment needed.

Materials: Socks, sneakers, and clothing you are comfortable wearing while being active.

Everyday expectations: Being prepared with proper attire, students put forth effort, and participate to the best of their abilities.

Project Adventure: When students return to the building, they will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of different climbing activities. Students will be instructed on multiple safety protocols, and will demonstrate those protocols before having the opportunity to climb. This is a “Challenge by Choice” unit, which simply means that students are able to choose their level of participation. No one will be forced to climb.
