Here is the link if you would like to join in. mysteryscience.com/live

I miss you all. I hope you are having a good week and things are going well for you. It is getting closer and closer to the end of school. I bet you are all excited. Let's get busy and that is one more day closer to the weekend.

Mountain Language #16-20.

Finish this up and we will correct it tomorrow. You should have one of these papers in your packet or you can use the one from last week if you still have it. The Mountain Language Poster is in the top corner of the screen!

Roll and Spell

Since today it Thursday you should be doing Roll and Spell but since there are so many words, I will let your parents and you decide if you should do them today. Maybe you could just work on the words that you are still having troubles with. This might help you on the spelling test. We have a lot to do today so let's get busy. You should be doing List 3 unless you have already finished it. If you already took the spelling test for list #3, you are done for the year. Congratulations, you did it!!!! Way to Go!!!

Story Packet

Today you will be doing this page of the story packet. This is the last page of the packet for this week. On this page they want you to match the characters to what they said. You will have to go back and look at the story, then draw a line from the animal, to the things they said. Some of them you probably remember, for example Who said, "Stay away from my tree!" ? That would be the tiger. I would draw a line form the tiger to that statement.

On the bottom part of this paper you are going to again use the story and write down what was said and who said it. You are looking for the key words "Screamed, Roared, Demanded, and Growled".

The first one was Screamed. There is someone who Screamed something. So I look through the story until I see the word Screamed. In the story it says, "Tiger was terrified. "What should I do?" he screamed. So on the line I would write "What should I do?" then the have the word screamed and I would write tiger on the second line because he is the one who said it. Now keep looking through the story to see where it says the words "Roared, Demanded, and Growled." See if you can figure out what was said these different ways and who said it.

Flap Book

Now we are going to work on suffixes. Last week we did the prefix flap book. This week you are going to do the suffix flap-book. Remember that a suffix comes after the root word. I need you to get out the three papers that are in this part of the packet. They were stapled together and the first page looks like this. It is a flap book. We have done flap books before.

On this page we are going to start by folding the page in half, the hot dog way along that dark solid line in the middle. We want the writing to be on the outside. You will do it the same way you did the Prefix Flap-Book. When you fold it in half it will look something like this.

Now open it back up and your are going to cut on the dotted line up to the solid black line. You will make the cuts up the 3 sets of dotted lines. The reason you open it up is because you don't want to cut the front of your flap-book. When you get done cutting, the other side of the flap-book should look like this.

Now you are going to get the pieces of paper that looks like this. It is some cards made out of card stock paper. You are going to cut out the Suffix cards y, ful, er, and ly, and you are going to glue them on the outside of the flaps.

When you are done doing it, the back side of your flap book will look like this.

Now you are going to decide where the words on the white paper go. Look at the words and figure out what is the root word and what is the suffix. The white paper looks like this.

This is a little different than the prefix flap-book. On this one you need to figure out what suffix the words go under. Would it be y, ful, er, or ly. Most of them should fairly easy. Try and figure out the root word and then the thing left after the word would be the suffix. Let's look at the word lumpy. What is the root word? It is lump, so the letters that are left would be the suffix. In this case the y is left so the suffix is y. I would lift the "y" flap and glue the word under the flap like in the example below.

Okay, now you try. Put all of the words on the white paper under the correct suffix. Go show your parents how amazing you are. Don't forget to do your 20-30 of reading. When you are done, take a break before we start into Math.

Review

Okay, today's Number of the Day would be #173. Only 15 more school days, we are getting closer to Summer Vacation!!! Do #173. Show your parents how you do it.

For your word problem book, just continue on with the Thursday of the week you left off with. Ask your parents for help if you need to have it explained.

We are done with our math work for the year except some pages next week that help you to do multiplication. I know you all want to learn how to do that. Please make sure you get your End of The Year Math Test done and that your parents get me the score. Have fun and come back for writing after specialty. We are learning about sharks.

Since today is Thursday, you have Music for Specialty. Follow the link below to get to the Music activities for this week. Have fun and enjoy.

Sharks

Since school is winding down and tomorrow is field day, I thought I would go ahead and have you do a paper on what you learned about sharks. This will be something that you can keep and that you show your parents. In the packet there was a paper that looked like this.

Write some interesting things that you learned about sharks. Kind of like your animal report, talk about where they live, what kinds there are, what are some interesting facts. what do they eat. Anything that you learned this week or already knew. When you are done you can do the art activity that goes with it. This is what it is supposed to look like.

This is all just for fun and you don't have to do it but it is a fun way to remember the things you learned. I hope you have a great day. Don't forget the Mystery Science Live Chat they are having today and don't forget Junior Achievement. Here is the link.
