My dear, my love, my only light

My dear, my love, my only light
his screams are those of a soul in decay
if only for you I could set things right
His figure forming a torcherous sight
contorted in agony over a letter which displays:
“my dear, my love, my only light”
A wife fallen ill, he avowed to fight
still, weeping silently did he pray
if only for you I could set things right
As children he was my sole delight
then he wed another, leaving hearts in disarray
my dear, my love, my only light
To prevent his anguish she stole away in the night
now a shuddering life in my arms lay
“if only for you I could set things right”
He is comforted, in my arms held tight
guilt suffocates, yet for him I will stay
my dear, my love, my only light
if only for you I could set things right
