What is your main source of inspiration?
My main source of inspiration was the love a mother gives to their children.
What motivated you to write this piece?
What motivated me to create my piece was the love given to people through their life, specifically a love given to a child by their mothers. Mothers create a path for their children through the dark, and I wanted to create a piece that reflected upon that.
Do you write sporadically or regularly?
Sporadically
What artists and/or writers inspired or influenced your work?
Nikki Giovanni
What was the most difficult part of your writing process for this work?
The most difficult part of the writing process of this work was trying to convey my idea into my artwork, as it should represent the poem given to me while also putting in my own interpretation of it as well.
What is your ideal writing environment?
My ideal writing environment is one that is quiet, whether it be by my desk or outside. As long as I am able to hear the thoughts in my head with no disruption, I believe I can write there.
How do you resonate with your piece? Why is it personal to you?
I resonate with my piece as it reminds me of all the love I have received in my life. But mostly the love my mom has gift me, whether it be through her kind words or her always being there for me, she is truly a gift to me.
What message do you hope to convey to the reader through your piece?
I hope to convey the message that love is given to people everywhere, and by many people. Whether the person be 4 or 96 years old, love can be spread.
