What is your main source of inspiration?

The current events that the we are going through right now. This pandemic has changed the way we live our lives now.

What was the most difficult part of your writing process for this work?

The hardest part about writing this piece was conveying everything I wanted to say in the restrictions of a cinquain poem. The syllables and poem requirements made it difficult to say everything I wanted say in so little words.

How do you resonate with your piece? Why is it personal to you?

This pandemic has been rough to everyone in the whole entire world. Although I haven’t personally experienced the pain of losing someone because of this virus, I know many people who have.

What message do you hope to convey to the reader through your piece?

Maybe someone from the flute will read this and get a feeling of what it was like living in this time.
