Parental Engagement & Family Learning
At Ryde Academy we believe that parents and carers, along with other stakeholders (all staff, students and the wider community), are integral to Academy life and student achievement. We want parents/carers to be involved wherever possible and for the Academy to be a welcoming place to visit. A big part of this is our Family Learning programme to which all parents, carers and family members are welcome.
Our next Family Learning events are;
Family Learning : Preparing for Exams
We know how difficult it can be to know how to support your child in preparing for exams, however much we may want to. We are offering a programme of informal sessions as part of our Family Learning programme to help support you and your child. We will offer strategies on how you can help your child prepare for the exams and to meet course work requirements. This will not be covered in normal lessons, is subject specific and tailored to students’ individual needs. Please attend with your child if you possibly can. Students should attend on their own if you are unable to join them. Refreshments will be provided.
The following sessions will take place during 2020:
Citizenship and RE - 3 February 2020, 4.45pm to 6.15pm
English - 17 March 2020, 4.45pm to 6.15pm
Please confirm your attendance via Parentpay or by emailing Mrs Baxter - please let us know how many people will be in your group . If you have any queries please contact me on email@example.com
Ceramic Christmas Decorations
Students and their families made some lovely ceramic bells as part of our Christmas Family learning sessions. For the first part they made ceramic bells and in the second session they were able to decorate them.
Our Family Learning activity made the most of a brief oasis of sunshine to climb a large oak tree in Appley Park with instructors Matt and Steve from Goodleaf Tree Climbing. It was an exciting, fun activity that put both adults and students a little out of their comfort zone.
Restart a Heart
19th October 2018
Thank you to all the families who attended the Family Learning session which was all about CPR as part of 'Restart a Heart Day'. The Island Ambulance Service came along and taught participants some basic emergency first aid, CPR and how to use the automated defibrillator that is situated outside the Academy entrance.
