KINGSLEY ACADEMY CELEBRATES STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS

++ Helen Balcha achieving three grade 9s, six grade 8s, one grade 7 and a grade 6 ++

++ Rayzel D'cunha achieving five grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s ++

Students and staff from Kingsley Academy are celebrating today after receiving top GCSE grades.

The Year 11 students who sat the exams in May and June are getting their results today, helping set their course for the future. The exams represent the culmination of their secondary school education and the grades students secure determine what they will go on and do next – further study, an apprenticeship or entry level role in the workplace.

This is the second year that exams have taken place as normal, but schools across the country are still dealing with the impact of the pandemic.

To support the Year 11 students, staff at Kingsley Academy, which is part of AET – a national network of schools - laid on additional intervention, online tuition and a study based residential trip.

All these efforts paid off, with students securing some brilliant results, including:

Principal, Bob Tinsley of Kingsley Academy said:

“Our Year 11 students have been remarkable this year and have worked harder than ever to achieve the results that they have collected this year. I am so proud of all the effort and determination that they have shown, especially as their time at school has been full of disruption. This cohort have taken every opportunity that has been offered to them, coming to school early, staying at school late and even coming in over the holidays and weekends to secure top grades and the best destinations. As a school we are all immensely proud of every student in Year 11 and we wish them all the best in their future”.

Michael Feely, Regional Education Director for London and South at AET said:

“My congratulations to everyone at Kingsley Academy for everything they have achieved this year.  Our Year 11s have worked so hard and shown grit and determination and have been supported brilliantly by the entire Kingsley team. Particular congratulations to Helen, Abdimalik, Abdul, and Rayzel for their results – I have every confidence they have very bright futures ahead of them”.

Schools Minister, Nick Gibb said:

Pupils receiving their results in Kingsley Academy, and across the country, should feel very proud today. I want to congratulate them all and express my gratitude to all of the teachers and leaders who have helped them on the way. GCSEs are a milestone in any young person’s life, and pupils collecting results today have the opportunity to progress onto one of many high-quality options including A levels, T Levels and hundreds of apprenticeship routes. I wish them all the best whatever they decide to do”.
