Our Science Curriculum
Through science we want to inspire curiosity amongst our children, developing children’s knowledge of scientific concepts and giving them the skills to work scientifically and carry out enquiries. Our curriculum aims to provide children with a broad knowledge of scientific concepts in biology, physics and chemistry. We develop our key drivers amongst children with a strong focus on independence, confidence and communication in science lessons to better ready them for their future.
We want all children at Cottingley Primary Academy to leave in year 6 with a well-rounded understanding of the true impact science has on our lives and how they could be the people to change the future.
Science teaching is split into 3 areas with each one explored in detail, the topics are revisited in each year group, building on pupils’ knowledge and understanding.

Research Using Secondary Sources
Pattern Seeking
Comparative and fair testing .
