Our PSHE Curriculum
Our PSHE (Personal, Social, Emotional and Economic Education) curriculum is taught as a holistic approach and throughout all that we do at Cottingley Primary Academy It is underpinned by British Values and promotes pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development. We teach this through Jigsaw which is a whole-school approach with many layers above and beyond the lesson themselves. The aim is to support our children to feel a strong sense of belonging and community to make it live across the school community and in children’s lives outside of school.
The new 'Relationships, Sex and Health Education' (2020) curriculum is now statutory. As a school, we have completed a consultation with our school community, and all the statutory coverage is in place.
Our PSHE Curriculum will enable pupils to discuss:
'Who am I and how do I fit?'
Respect for similarity and difference. Anti-bullying and being unique
Aspirations, how to achieve goals and understanding the emotions that go with this
Being and keeping safe and healthy
Building positive, healthy relationships
Coping positively with change
