PE Statement of Intent

The PE curriculum at Cottingley Primary Academy offers a coherently planned sequence of lessons that help teachers ensure they have covered the requirements of the National Curriculum. The breadth of ball games covered (Invasion Games, Net and Wall Games, Striking and Fielding) provides opportunities for skills to be developed over time and not in isolation. In KS1, the focus of the PE curriculum is on the development of the fundamental skills that will be built upon in KS2 when they are applied in specific sports. Through carefully planned lessons and enrichment opportunities, our intention is to develop competent, healthy pupils who safely and successfully participate in a wide range of sports inside and outside of school.
