Philosophy of Religion is a course that provides students the opportunity to discover whether they have or have not a religious experience. To help them with the process of discovery, the course will take them through some philosophical approaches to the religious experience. The course guides them through three philosophical articulations of the universal, rational structures that constitute the religious dimension of human experience.
At the end of the course, the students shall have been able to (1) define religious experience as hierophany; (2) differentiate the hierophanic theories of Rudolf Otto, John E. Smith, and St. Thomas Aquinas; and (3) decide whether they have or have not a religious experience.

Introduction: Religious experience as hierophanic experience.
