Aberdeen City Council's Family Learning Team: Feedback request

Aberdeen City Council's Family Learning Team is currently planning activities across the city and would like to gather feedback from families about the types of opportunities you would be interested in taking part in.

The questionnaire is designed to help us better understand the interests and needs of families so that we can develop a programme of activities that is accessible, engaging and relevant to you. The questionnaire will remain open for answers until Friday 18th September.

🏉Free sports coaching⚽

Aberdeen Sports Village (ASV) Energisers offers free sports coaching, a hot meal after each session, access to facilities, and sports kit for primary school children. The next 5-week block starts on 8 September.

Block 1 is our smallest block of the year and spaces are expected to book out quickly again. You can find the block of activities for each age group on the attached PDF.

Please note, there is also an additional Rugby session for 8 to 12 year olds on Wednesday 16th September at 17:00-18:00. This is a one-off session where children will get to play Rugby as well as the unique opportunity to see, learn about and get pictures with the Calcutta Cup. The ASV Energisers Matchday Experience is also returning for 2026/2027. In partnership with Aberdeen FC, the Matchday Experience provides free tickets for children to experience live sport. Please only register the child who will be attending the fixture. This will not be led or supervised by ASV or AFC staff, as such each registration will receive 2 tickets, one for the child and one for a responsible parent/guardian to attend with them.

Financial Support for Families

We understand that many families may be facing financial pressures and want to ensure that everyone is aware of the support that may be available.

If your household is on a low income and you have children at school, a range of financial assistance may be available, including support with school meals, clothing grants as well as other forms of help.

Rosemount Youth Hangout: A Free Weekly Club for Young People

Looking for something to do after school? Why not come along to Rosemount Youth Hangout, a free weekly session for young people aged 10-16 years?

Held every Tuesday from 3.30 pm - 5 pm at Rosemount Community Centre, Belgrave Terrace, Aberdeen, AB25 2NS, the Hangout offers a welcoming space to make friends, try new activities and have fun.

The session are delivered by Rosemount Aberdeen Youth Service in partnership with Barnardo's and the Co-op, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for young people in the local community.

No booking is required, just come along and join in!

New ipads

Thanks to a successful grant funding application and a donation from our Parent Council, we have taken delivery of a small number of new ipads. These are going to be very useful for some of our new Pupil Leadership Groups, supporting their work whilst helping them develop new skills.

Winner of the National Book Tokens Annual Competition

We are delighted to share some exciting news! We have been selected as one of only five schools across Britain to win £1,000 worth of book tokens for our school library. 🥳📚

As per the previous post, the prize will be entrusted to our new Pupil Leadership Group for Reading, who will work together to decide how the tokens should be spent. We are sure the pupils will be supported well by our local bookshop in Rosemount to make these decisions.

We think our pupils will be absolutely delighted when they hear this news next week and we will share updates and photos once our new Pupil Leadership Group is formed.

Pupil Leadership Groups 2026-27

This week (beginning 24 August), our pupils worked alongside their class teachers to explore ideas for this year's Pupil Leadership Groups. Next week, children will be invited to put themselves forward for a group that interests them. Together with staff, they will identify key priorities and create an action plan to help drive improvements, initiatives and activities across the school, throughout the year.

We are aiming for Level 4 and Level 5 on the Pupil Participation Scale.

School Improvement Priorities 2026 - 2027

By listening to feedback from our school community and considering the findings from our recent inspection by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE), we have identified our key priorities for improvement this school session.

Many of these priorities are a continuation of improvement work from last session.

💻📱Keeping children safe online - with Police Scotland and Education Scotland - Wednesday 23 September, 12-1pm or 5:30-6:30pm, online💻📱

This FREE webinar is being delivered in partnership by Parenting Across Scotland, Police Scotland's Cybercrime Harm Prevention Team and Education Scotland. There will be a short presentation by Police Scotland exploring how you can help keep yourself and your loved ones safe whilst online, followed by Education Scotland discussing concerns about the use of technology in schools and digital awareness in the curriculum, then an opportunity to ask questions.

P7 Residential Information Meeting - Wednesday 2nd September 2026🥾🏠

We would like to invite P7 learners and their parents/ carers to an information meeting about the P7 Residential.

This meeting will take place on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 at 3.30 pm - 4.15 pm in the Conference Room.

It will provide an opportunity to learn more about the trip, including the activities, travel arrangements and accommodation.

There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions.
