School Hours and Routine

Nursery

Nursery Morning: 8.30–11.40 am

Nursery Afternoon: 12.40– 3.50 pm


Primary 1 - 7

Primaries 1, 2 & 3: 9.00 am - 12.30 pm & 1.30 pm – 3.15 pm

Primaries 4, 5, 6 & 7: 9.00 am - 12 noon & 1.00 pm – 3.15 pm


  • Children in Primaries 1 - 7 should arrive at school between 9 am and 9.15 am. They should enter the school building through the following doors:

P1p, P5 and P6 - Front Door (access from Rosemount Place)

P1b, P2r and P2y - East Door (to the right of the Front Door)

P2/3, P3g, P3o, P4 and P4/5 - Back Door (access from Skene Square)

P5/6, P6/7 and P7 - West Door (to the left of the Front Door)

  • At 3.15pm your child will leave by the same door. If there are any changes to your pick up please keep the School Office informed.

** Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only the one parent/ carer of Nursery and P1 - 3 children are allowed in the playground. We ask all parents to adhere to Social Distancing Guidelines.

Attendance/ Illness

  • If your child arrives for school (after 9.15 am) please telephone the School Office (01224 630493) and a member of staff will meet your child at the Front Door.

  • If your child is absent, please let us know before 9.30 am by telephoning the School Office. If the telephone is not answered, then please leave a message on the answering service.

  • You must be on time to collect your child at the end of the day. We do not have provision for looking after children before or after school.

  • Should a child become ill or have an accident during the school day, minor first aid will be provided. Texts are sent for minor head bumps. Parents or emergency contacts will be informed if a child needs to be taken home or require medical attention. If a pupil is unwell due to a stomach bug they must refrain from school for at least 48 hours from when they were last unwell.

  • In exceptional circumstances “prescribed” medication may be required during the school day. In such cases, parents must telephone or email the school. We will then issue the necessary Medical Authorisation forms for you to complete and return before we can administer the medication. Children should not bring any medication to school.

  • Please let the school know in writing if you are taking your child out of school during term time.

Morning Break

Primaries 1 - 3 10.50 am to 11.05 am

Primaries 4 – 7 10.25 am to 10.40.am


  • At break time your child will go outside to play with the other children supported by Pupil Support Assistants (PSAs).

  • We encourage all children to eat healthily and suggest for break, they bring a small healthy snack and drink. e.g. fruit juice, water, fresh fruit.

  • We also give children the opportunity to enjoy outdoor play. With this in mind your child should come fully prepared with a waterproof, hooded jacket and suitable footwear.

Lunch

Primaries 1 – 3 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm

Primaries 4 – 7 12 noon to 1.00 pm


  • Children can bring a packed lunch from home or have a lunch provided by Aberdeen City Council Catering Service.

  • Where children have specific dietary requirements or restrictions, parents are requested to inform the school in writing.

Milk and Fruit

The Scottish Government provide a 200ml carton of free milk daily for pupils in Nursery and Primary 1 and free fruit three times a week for pupils in Primary 1 and 2. These are usually consumed in class.
