News 2025/26
📖World Book Day 2026, Thursday 5th March📖
Our Heads and Deputes of Families, along with Mrs Clark, have been busy preparing something special for this year’s World Book Day!
Always trying to be creative and a little bit different, this year we are excited to present… Story Snippets!
These are short extracts from well known stories… but with a twist!
Some of the characters have wandered in from other books! 👀
We will share the recordings on here after World Book Day!
🔎 Can you identify the mystery characters from the clues?
✍️ Can you and your child/ren create your own Story Snippet?
We would love to read your creations!
📖Reading Together at Home, Parent Session
Tuesday 3rd March📖
Next Tuesday, 3rd March, we are looking forward to welcoming a group of parents into school for our first session focused on how to support children’s reading at home.
During the session, we will be sharing practical strategies and taking a closer look at some of the helpful reading resources available on our school website here .
Invitations for this first session have already been sent out and additional sessions will be offered during Term 4.
We look forward to working together to help our learners continue to build confidence, enjoyment and success in reading.
Over the past few weeks, we have introduced a Question of the Day in the dinner hall. It has been great to see pupils peer round the dinner hall door to read that days question and then engage in deeper thinking and conversations with their peers while waiting for and enjoying, their lunch.
For the next few days, we will continue to model the types of questions we use before handing the responsibility over to the pupils. Children will be able to submit their own question ideas through a form on their Google Classroom. We will also be adding some “Prove It!” style numeracy questions to encourage problem‑solving and mathematical reasoning.
After reading the latest HMIe thematic report on Literacy and English, which highlights the importance of meaningful dialogue and opportunities for learners to express and develop their thinking, our Question of the Day supports these key recommendations in everyday school life.
These questions are a fantastic way to spark discussion and we encourage families to share and explore similar questions at home too.

Pupil Voice Update - February 2026
Our Senior Pupil Voice representatives have had an incredibly busy and productive term so far! They have been working hard to gather the views of pupils across the school by leading this session's Learning, Teaching and Assessment focus groups with every class. They have supported pupils to complete this term’s wellbeing survey, ensuring that every voice was heard. They will be gathering this information and sharing key message with class teachers over the next couple of weeks.
Building on their findings from Term 1 and Term 2, the group has been exploring the question “What makes a 5★ Learner?”
On Friday 20th February, the group met with Miss A. Wakeford to begin designing our school’s ‘5 Star Learner’ graphic. It’s very much a work in progress, but what an incredibly creative bunch they are! The pupils showed impressive teamwork, listening to each other, sharing ideas confidently and respecting everyone’s contributions.
We look forward to sharing the finished product with you all soon.

🏆 Congratulations to Maberly – Our Winning Family for Term 2! 🏆
On Wednesday (17th December) the pupils who are in Maberly enjoyed a game of bingo with Mrs Burney. Pictured here are the 'full house' winners.
Well done Maberly and well done girls!
On Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th December, our pupils brought festive cheer and fantastic talent to the stage with two incredible productions.
P1–P3 delighted our audiences with Scarecrow’s Christmas, a heart warming story filled with music, laughter and with our school value of 'kindness' being the golden thread throughout. The children shone brightly and their enthusiasm made the performance truly magical.
P6 and P7 wowed us with Dragon Days, a lively and imaginative show full of drama, humour and outstanding acting. Their hard work and creativity were evident in every scene and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievement. This show highlighted a strength of our school and community....inclusion for all.
📸 Photographs from both performances will be shared on Google Classrooms very soon, so keep an eye out!

We can’t wait to see their thoughts and reactions featured—so make sure to follow HMT’s channels and watch out for their big moment! 🌟
🎭HMT- Cinderella Panto, Tuesday 16th December🎭
Once again our pupils had a fantastic trip to the theatre this afternoon to watch the pantomime of Cinderella.
The joy we get from watching the children's faces as they are captivated by the costumes, laughter, mischief and story is worth all of the organisation.
A huge thank you to our helpers today and of course this years' cast for a wonderful afternoon, helping to create primary school memories.💫

We have made a head start though and managed to secure a new source of funding and as such are expecting a new bike shelter and scooter pods to be installed between Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th December.

📢 New Vaping Brief Available 📢
We’re sharing an important new resource designed to support staff, parents and young people with up-to-date, evidence-based information about vaping and nicotine pouches.
📝 Young People and Vaping Brief (Version 1: October 2025)
This brief has been created to raise awareness and provide clear guidance on the risks and realities of vaping among young people. It includes key facts, legal updates and practical advice for schools and families.
📎 Click here to view the brief
🔍 Key points include:
Vaping is increasingly common among young people, with some starting as early as age 10.
Many vapes are illegally accessed via shops, social media or proxy sales.
Some vapes thought to contain cannabis actually contain Spice, a dangerous synthetic drug.
As of 1st June 2025, selling single-use vapes is illegal in the UK.
Education is key: vaping is addictive and harmful, especially for young people.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please contact the School Office.

🌟 Celebrating Wider Achievement at Our School 🌟
Wider Achievement recognises the valuable skills, experiences and personal growth that pupils gain through activities such as sports, volunteering, creative arts, leadership roles and community involvement.
We’re proud and delighted to share that our Wider Achievement display has been completed with all the fantastic achievements shared by pupils during Term 1.
To be recognised, pupils are encouraged to complete a Wider Achievement Slip. This allows them to receive a special mention at assembly and have their name and achievement added to the display.
At the end of term, we enjoyed this performance from one of our P7 learners.
We welcome pupils to showcase their talents at assembly, whether it’s a performance, a presentation or sharing a personal accomplishment. Let’s continue to celebrate the amazing things our young people are doing both in and out of school!
