Pupil Leadership

At Skene Square we encourage pupils to play an active role in all aspects of school life. We provide children with lots of leadership opportunities within the classroom and across the wider school community. For many of these roles the children complete an application or are voted in by their peers.

Family Heads and Deputes

The Family Heads and Deputes are responsible for developing teamwork across the school through earning house points and working towards the end of term prize. They support the staff during school tours, collecting and recording house points, the planning of the winning family prize and other key responsibilities across the school.

Pupil Council

The Pupil Council are voted by the pupils and include two representations from each class. The pupils meet with Miss Findlay regularly to discuss ideas, decide on the most effective ways to change and improve the school and then talk to the people who can help to make it happen.

The Pupil Council regularly share news and information about new initiatives and the important things which are achieved with their class and at Assemblies.

Learning Monitors

There are two Learning Monitors appointed in each class and they are responsible for capturing a snapshot of the learning which has taken place in their class. This is then shared with the parents and carers at the end of each term either using Microsoft SWAY or a Google Slide presentation.

Sports Ambassadors

Our Sports Ambassadors work alongside Nicole, our Active Schools coordinator to promote sport and activity to all school pupils. This can include helping to keep the Active Sports noticeboard up-to-date, to promote clubs at assembly, to help plan whole school sporting events and help at our annual Sports Day.

Digital Leaders

One of the many responsibilities our Digital Leaders have is to support staff and other pupils with the use and set up of digital technology, helping with technical issues throughout the school. They also trial new software, equipment and resources creating user guides for staff and pupils. We also encourage our Digital Leaders to model safe and responsible use of technology as well as share their knowledge and skills with other pupils.

Book Worms

These children take a leading role in the organisation of our recently refurbished library. They liaise with their year group and feedback on book choices and requests.
