The sun was shining for our Sports Day this year. Everyone had lots of fun and demonstrated great sportsmanship in all their events.
Well the sun shone for our Open Outdoor Learning session today. For the first part of the session the children helped to set up the Slip and Slide and fill up the buckets of water. After break we welcomed families and everyone had a great time going up and down the Slip and Slide!

Term 4 - An Overview of our Learning
This term we will focus on our own spelling words and in Cypic Writing after completing Openers targets in Term 1, and Connectives in Term 2 and Punctuation in Term 3 we will be focussing on Vocab in Term 4.
This term we will focus on Money, Data, Angles, Symmetry and Measurement. We will still continue with our big maths CLIC targets every week and our number processes which will link to these targets!
This term we will be focussing on Planning for choice and Substance abuse.

We started off with rain and ended off with the sun shining in our Outdoor Learning this morning. The children built dens to shelter from the rain and later on enjoyed s'mores by the fire.
Our pupils of the week represented the school as part of the Rotary Quiz team, showing good sportsmanship and achieving a fabulous 3rd place!

Today we had Alison Johnston from the Royal Highland Education Trust into class to talk about the Journey of the Pea! We got to hear about how the different types of peas and how they are harvested, dried and frozen locally. We got to look at plants, frozen peas and even try some pea cookies.

In a Aberdeen City wide Sumdog contest the class finished a close 2nd place with one person in our class finishing in the top 10 overall, managing to correctly answer 869 out of her 1000 questions!

The class had a really interesting trip to The Ferryhill Railway Heritage Trust on Thursday. They were shown around the 150 year old railway shed with various steam engines and carriages under reconstruction. They also got to stand on and move the restored turntable. In the afternoon we had fun at Duthie Park.
On Wednesday we had trainee doctors from Heart Start in the class to demonstrate CPR and how to use a defibrilator.

On Friday the class performed their assembly about Global Goal number 2 - Zero Hunger.
They designed and pulled everything together, including slides, a drama sketch and a quiz. They worked as a team and rehearsed to deliver an informative assembly with everyone taking on a speaking part.
Our pupils of the week this week had to be the whole class for their enthusiasm and teamwork in putting on their class assembly this afternoon.

Term 1 - An Overview of our Learning
We will be focussing on our daily writing targets this term along with our weekly spelling words.
As a class we will also be focussing on writing Recounts, Autobiographies and Reviews.
Our maths topics this term are 2D and 3D shapes, patterns and relationships.
Maths Week Scotland will be from 23.09.24 - 29.09.24 where the theme is 'Maths Tales!'
Our focus this term is on Caring Citizens and our classroom expectations.
We will also be holding elections for our class pupil council rep.
