Outdoor Learning with Mr Miller
This afternoon we had a great time playing and having fun in our very first outdoor learning session. We played some group games together and then got a chance to free play with all of the outdoor learning equipment. Some of us made dens, some of us played on the tyre swing and some played rolling games with the barrels amongst many other things. We can't wait for our next session already!

Patterns with Numicon
Our current maths topic is pattern and shape. We have been using numicon a lot recently in all aspects of our learning especially through play. Today we used numicon to create some patterns and practiced our number formation. Miss Smart was very proud of all the children for their wonderful creations and we had the pleasure of Mrs Douglas joining in with this lesson too!
Today we were learning the 'n' sound. We had lots of fun pretending to be airplanes making our 'nnnnn' sounds as we flew across the room! We also made nests for our phonics craft. What a nice job p1!
Today we were learning the sound p . We made our very own penguins to practice our p sounds and we named our penguins names beginning with p. Some names chosen were Percy, Pingu and Polly!
Knock, Knock!
As part of our current topic 'Kincorth', we were learning about the different types of houses around the village and took a closer look at all the different numbers on the doors! Miss Smart was super impressed at how observant some of the children must be as a lot of our class could remember their very own door number without Miss Smart's help! We designed our very own door number which will be displayed on our topic wall in the classroom. Look at these creative designs!
Star of the Week!
For always showing the MEERKAT values and being a great role model for the rest of the class!
Yesterday we explored Numicon! Numicon is a fantastic numeracy resource that can be manipulated and used in many different ways. As this was our first time using it we learned what colour and numbereach piece of numicon was and then got creative building shapes with it! Next week we look forward to using numicon to make patterns!

We got to be real nurses and wear our very own tunics and learned about how much sleep we should be getting, why it is so important to get a good sleep and got tips and tricks on how to sleep better. We also looked at a good example of a night time routine which everyone has their very own copy of to try at out home! 💤
This week we have been learning and practicing two new sounds s and a. Each week to consolidate our learning we will be doing a craft activity for each sound. Today we were adding apples to our apple tree using apple stamps and practicing our a formations too. 🍎
