The purpose of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is to guide high school athletic personnel, emergency medical services, and local law enforcement in responding to emergency situations when they occur. All Yorktown security, medical staff members, coaches and athletic personnel should be familiar with this document and their role and responsibility in an emergency. Annual review and update of the EAP should be conducted with all athletic personnel so that each member of the emergency care team is aware of their respective role in the event of an emergency. Any questions should be directed to the Athletic Trainer (or school administrator, in the absence of a Certified Athletic Trainer).
An emergency is the need for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to give further medical attention and/or transport a patient to the hospital. It is important in these situations that coordination between the Athletic Trainer, coaches, administrators, and first responders be effective. This guide is intended to delineate roles and outline the protocol to be followed should an emergency occur.
