Science Society

Brief description of CCA activities and prerequisite(s), if any:

The Science Society at Victoria Junior College is run by a group of science lovers. It hinges on the passion and interests of students and weekly activities are organised by students themselves under the guidance of experienced teachers. Members have many opportunities to try out novel science experiments which are not within the science curriculum and the opportunity to attend a two-day Science Communication Workshop/Camp organised by an external vendor.

Members also engage in various outreach events for participants within and outside of the College. They organise the Science Challenge for VJC students to engage them in the application of science concepts in a fun way. Members also get to organise and facilitate science workshops during the Victoria-Cedar Alliance (VCA) Science Explore and the STEM Festival@VJC. In the past, there were also invitations to host overseas students under the Exchange Programme to engage them in science activities while they are in Singapore.

Members will get the opportunity to use the scientific equipment in the well-equipped S&T Centre in VJC under the teachers’ guidance and supervision.
