In the Victoria Junior College Data analysis, Technology and AI [DaTA] Club (formerly known as Mathematics Society), students get to engage in projects that blend programming with real-world problem-solving. They can explore mathematical models, and develop algorithms to analyse trends. Through activities such as coding competitions and predictive modelling, students can enhance their logical reasoning and computational thinking. These challenges would help foster creativity and strategic problem-solving skills essential in mathematics and computer science. Over time, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the power of coding, data analytics, and mathematical modelling in understanding complex systems and making data-driven decisions.
The DaTA Club is also in charge of other math and computing related events and activities in VJC. We want to promote the interest and raise the awareness of mathematics and computing as a fun intellectual activity through the organization of both internal and external events.
In addition, there are other possible aspects that may include:
(i) Computer Coding to expose students to programming languages (e.g. Python);
(ii) Data science using coding and math;
(iii) Math Modelling;
(iv) Exposure to AI
Note: The above may vary based on each cohort and their interests.
