Writers' Circle

Brief description of CCA activities and prerequisite(s), if any:

With the aim of uniting those with a passion for reading and writing, Writers’ Circle is a closely-knit community that consists of aspiring writers with a love for poetry, prose, drama, journalism and opinion pieces. The members share a mutual love for the written word and have engaging discussions that facilitate the exchange of ideas regarding written pieces.

Our team comprises two sections - one dedicated to Creative Writing and the other to Journalistic Pursuits (VPress).

Throughout the year, our members gather on a Monday morning. With our sudden bursts of laughter and incessant lame jokes, Writers’ Circle is a CCA full of life and fun. VPress also publishes member opinion pieces and covers College events, which can be found on our very own VPress Newsletter @ https://sites.google.com/vjc.edu.sg/thevictorianpress/home

Outside of our weekly sessions, Writer’s Circle also holds (and participates in) many other fun events:

During our annual performance, Glossolalia, we showcase written works produced and published by our members. It’s an evening when we take a leap of courage to read out poetry, act out short plays and narrate short stories that we have written. This year, Writer’s Circle takes on a journey of a lifetime as we venture into The Wondrous World of Dreams, our theme for Glossolalia 2026!
What’s more, our annual March Camp also holds great opportunities for some quality junior-senior bonding! With treasure hunts around Singapore to imagining the secret histories of ancient museum artefacts, our March Camps are sure to be an unforgettable experience to all involved!
Last but certainly not least, this year marks the launch of the first and biggest InterJC Magazine Collection, organised by by the newly minted inter-JC Writer’s Collective (JCWC), a collaboration spanning 10 different writing CCAs from 9 Junior Colleges. This year, our theme, Beginnings, brands the start of a wondrous new era of Writers’ Circles all around Singapore!
