The Danish resistance and population was very active in resisting the Nazis during the five year German occupation of Denmark during World War II. Unlike other countries that Germany invaded, Denmark was able to keep its government and police force intact. The Danish people defied the Nazis and save almost all of Denmarks Jews from being captured by the Nazis. This book tells just a few of the ways the Danish resistance fought the Nazis. They were able to print illegal newspapers, sabotage German ammunition, destroy factories and Gestapo headquarters, sabotaging ships and the railways, get most of their tugboats out of Denmark, help Danish Jews escape, and provide critical information to the Allies. This book explains some of the many things the Danish people did to defeat the Nazis. Other books on the topic include The Boys Who Challenged Hitler, A Conspiracy of Decency : The Rescue of the Danish Jews during World War II, and Refusing to Crumble: The Danish Resistance in World War II.
