Have you ever seen a dance that everyone is performing? Have you ever heard of "the floss" or the "Macarena"? Crazes in America are nothing new. The 1920s had the Charleston, flagpole sitting, and the pogo stick. The 1930s and 1940s had chain letters and pinball. It was stuffing phone booths and the hula hoop in the 1940s and 1950s. Do not forget about lava lamps and mood rings in the 1960s and 1970s. One of the fads of the 1980s was Pac Man while a fad in the 1990s was Furby. What about the early 2000s? A couple of those fads would be flash mobs and Webkinz. Read about popular fads in the United States over the last one hundred years in Fad Mania: A History of American Crazes.
