Up until a few years ago, very few people knew that over 10,000 women helped to break the German and Japanese codes during World War II. They came to Washington, DC from all over the country. Many of them were teachers or studying to become teachers. Some of the women became Naval officers in the WAVES, and others worked for the Army as civilians. All the women were sworn to secrecy. Because of what these women did, the Allies were able to win the war. In this book, Liza Mundy tells these women's stories which have never been told before.
