Frederick Douglass Chemistry Class Syllabus:
Special Materials needed: bound Composition book, binder, notebook paper, pencils, scientific calculator.
It is preferable to complete your work in pencil in this class.
The primary goal of this course is to endow students with necessary knowledge and skill that will enable them to apply scientific skills and processes to major chemistry concepts.
Classroom Rules, Regulations, & Make-up Policies:
1. Be on time to class. Unexcused tardiness will result in hallsweep/detention. Excessive tardies can lead to in school suspension (ISS) !! This is your only warning!
2. Come to class prepared- bring all materials with you to class including your textbook, notebook, paper,
pen, pencil, etc.
3. Graded assignments are allowed in Pencil, Navy Blue, or Black ink. Typed work is only accepted when specifically stated on the assignment.
4. Stay in your assigned seat. Stay out of the Lab area.
5. No food or drink in the classroom or lab area. No Grooming, No Head Cover.
6. Class work and homework should be turned in on time. Late work will not be accepted.
7. Be courteous of others and their property. Disrespect will not be tolerated!
8. 99% of the time there are no electronics used in class. Occasionally we use kahoot! Students who do not have a mobile device will be given one, or partnered with another student. Students do not need to bring a cell phone for this class!
Make-up work policy:
Make-up work is allowed due to an excused absence. Tests missed due to an excused absence will be made up after contact has been made with the students’ parents to verify the reason for the absence. Besides this syllabus, students can stay current on coursework and their grades by utilizing the www.schoolmax.com website.
What are course expectations?
The following factors will be included in determining student grades for this course:

Passing Mark: 60% or (241 semester points)
You need a total of at least 241 points by the close of the 4th quarter or at least 60% each quarter to pass the class.
To see how you are doing, add up the totals (out of 100) that you receive at the end of each quarter. Subtract the sum of each of the quarters from 240 to determine how many points you have left to pass. Note: This does not determine your grade, it only determines how far away from passing you are.

90-100% A
80-89% B
70-79% C
60-69% D
0-59% E
