In science we don't use the english system (pounds, yards, ounces, inches etc) we use the Metric System!
Here are the units that we do use in science (KNOW THE FOLLOWING:)
Mass (weight) - grams
Length - meters
Volume (amount of space something takes up) - liters
Time - Seconds
Temperature - Celsius
Why? Simply because it is easier. In the English system to convert from one unit to another you have to know a conversion factor. That is to say you have to multiply or divide to find your answer. Here is how the English system is divided up:
The metric system is based on powers of ten. This means that to be able to convert you only need to know how far to move the decimal place (NO MATH!)
